Kids Read for Free Partnership with Johnson's Literary Depot

Kids Read for Free ensures every child who visits the Depot goes home with a book—no purchase required. It’s simple, local, and community-funded.

How It Works

All of our kids books are free for children from the ages of 0-12. When children come into the Depot we empower them to take ownership of their personal library ensuring that they always have access to books they are interested in at home. (Adults may purchase books for a donation of $1 per book.)

1. Books Are Collected
New and gently used children’s books are donated by children, individuals, businesses, and community partners.

2. Books Are Shared
Books are distributed free of charge through Johnson’s Literary Depot, schools, events, Little Free Libraries, and local partners—no applications, no barriers.

3. Kids Read
Children take books home, build their own libraries, and grow a lifelong love of reading.
